Lodge Keeper at Arundel Castle

General description
This is a unique role in a unique place, for which the right person will have a varied and interesting career opportunity, matching your skills and offering new challenges.

There are seasonal variations for this post:

When open to the public (April – October), it will mostly be opening and closing main gates, deliveries and car parking
When closed, the main roles will be maintenance and gardening
Includes weekends, bank holidays and occasional evenings working

Main duties:

Opening and closing main entrance gates to the castle, car park gates and barriers

Monitoring and controlling entry to castle and grounds when required

Receiving and delivering packages

Maintenance of car parking areas: grass cutting, hedge trimming, litter clearing, general repairs

Liaison with contractors for repairs and maintenance

Directing vehicles during busy days

Directing and helping visitors with parking and other enquiries

Cash collection from parking meters and liaison with meter provider and enforcement agency

General maintenance, cleaning and arranging servicing of the motorised buggies and storage area

Training staff on use of buggies

Working with maintenance and gardening teams around the castle, grounds and gardens

General maintenance of Lower Lodge information room and floral displays

Supporting House team: Cleaning and setting of fires in castle; occasional overnight on-call within castle; member of the emergency response team

Any other reasonable duties as required by the castle management

Undertake training as required for the role

Flexible approach to working hours
Mix of customer care and physical work involved in the role, with the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team

The post includes on-site two-bedroom accommodation
Salary dependent on experience
